Fall

Fall

Since I was a kid, I’ve been unnerved by the idea of taxidermy. This item was uncovered in a thrift shop by a friend. I wanted to do something affirming with the remains. Included with it is a large saw blade that suggests the buck being cut from the herd. I emblazoned the blade with a paint intended for glass. The graphic suggests the fletching of an arrow and is laid in four directions pointing at native tradition which honors the four directions. The graphic was borrowed from the glass, antique Native American bead necklace worn by the buck as a modified headdress.
