European Study 1996

The collection of quick sketches shown are highlights from my sketchbook while traveling through England, France and Italy in 1996 thanks to The Cresson Memorial Travel Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Most are brief notes intended to capture ideas rapidly as I traveled through museums and contemporary art exhibitions with the exception of the “Sienna” series which include animals from memory that represent the mascots for the animals in the different neighborhoods of Sienna that competed against one another in the famed Paleo horse race. Also included are a couple architectural renderings from my time studying at The University of Sienna through NJIT’s Architecture program. I took the course as a sculptor after I met the group unexpectedly in Rome.
