Culture Vessel

Culture Vessel

My vessels are inspired by ancient, broken vessels from archeological digs and in this case it points toward the idea of effigy for civilization. The vessel itself was cast from a plaster mold of a hand thrown form. I cut the wax to open a section between the top and bottom of the form and modeled the gear disks by hand in wax. After I cast and prepped the bronze fragments, I welded the small bone shapes to the lips of the vessel suspending the top with the tiny “bone” fragments.
